Evening Prayer After Serving the Poor and the Sick
All-powerful Father, as the setting sun slowly fades before our eyes, we honor You for the greatness of Your mercy and love. We thank You for revealing to us some living signs of Your Divine Providence. We glorify You for the countless blessings we have received this day. We praise You for gently showing Your loving plan to us, however profound and mysterious it may be to our finite senses.
Our loving Jesus, we thank You for walking with us this day. We ask You to bless the hospitals, homes, and other places where You revealed to us Your pain and suffering.
Bless, too, with Your grace all the events we witnessed today, our experiences of joy and pain, and all the stories of faith and struggle we heard and shared.
We thank You for the opportunity to serve You among the poor and the sick. We ask You now to lighten the burden of the poor and ease the pain of the sick. Give them courage, faith and hope in Your liberating grace, that they may find solace in the midst of paralyzing doubt and fear, and that they may realize their dignity in being called children of God. May the seed of Your Word, sown in humble labor, bear fruit in healing and holiness.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us, Your Missionaries of the Beatitudes. Forgive us for all the sins that we may have committed against the new law, life and promise of the Beatitudes. Strengthen our resolve to express our love for You by living in humility simplicity and charity. Sustain our humble work with Your Divine Providence that we may continue to serve You in prayer, generosity and commitment. Bear with our limitations and sinfulness, even as we bear the frailty and brokenness of the poor and the sick we serve. We now come before You to ask for strength, guidance and protection.
Father, send forth Your Holy Spirit to touch us with Your gentle presence. Heal our troubled conscience. Comfort our restless hearts and revive our weary bodies. Let the healing grace of Your Son reach out to us who need Your saving help. Sustain us with Your power and compassion. Make us see the path You have willed for us from all eternity. May we see with the eyes of faith Your Greatest Plan unfold before us. Grant us the grace of faith and perseverance to carry out Your Holy Will and live it with the joy and peace that only Your refreshing Spirit can give.
This we humbly ask in the Most Holy Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
AMEN.
Healing Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
